Do We Need Rules?
I think one of the most important things for a society to develop is to maintain rules and/or laws. It is important because without them it would be chaos. Everyone would do what they want to do, but not what is necessarily do what is best for everyone. If America didn't have any laws or rules there would be and abundance of murderers, robbers, and pedophiles walking the streets. How would you like to live in a society were it is okay to kill or rape people, or steal from them because I sure wouldn't.
It is essential for everyone to to obey the rules so you have order. Without order there would be destruction. Laws and rules weren't made to be written on posters and hung up to look pretty. They were made for our benefit. They were made to keep us safe. If we don't follow them what is even the point of having them? It is also necessary for authority figures to enforce the rules so we follow them. Although, in some cases it is okay to break the rules. In Mulan, she went to war to save her father and also ended up saving the country of China. That may be one of the only reasons to break a rule or law if it will help someone for the better and will not hurt anyone else. There are always going to be those people that think the rules don't apply to them. They are always going to be out there breaking the rules. The only people that are able to stop them from doing this is the police or other authority figures.
People break the rules for many reasons. They can think that - Oh, hey, that doesn't apply to me. I can do whatever I want. - but in reality they can't. People also break the rules because it may be the "easy" way out. If you are poor and are really that desperate, you can go rob a bank. Then you would become rich! All of your problems are solved! Although, now you have the cops on your tail and if you are caught, you'll probably be put in prison for more than 5 years depending on how much damage you caused. There are so many more reasons why people break the rules and some are too difficult to even explain. But if I were you, I would just follow the rules, and you will be headed in the right direction.
